My passion for health and wellness, and ultimately the choice to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, grew from personal experience. I was a passenger in a high speed, roll over car accident, in high school. Afterwards I suffered from muscle spasms, headaches and excruciating pain. I was medically mismanaged by my primary care provider and suffered for 8 months with increasing pain and spasms. The prescribed pain pills and muscle relaxers did little to relieve my suffering and left me without hope that I would ever get better. I was eventually referred to a chiropractor and received care that addressed the problem, instead of masking the symptoms. Gradually the pain was decreased and my health was regained. After that experience, I knew that there would be no better career than to make the same difference in other people’s lives. I understand first hand, that there is hope for those who suffer needlessly.
My understanding and approach to health care has stemmed from my education. My wife and I spent four years in Davenport Iowa, where I earned the Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the prestigious, world renowned, Palmer College of Chiropractic. I finished the clinical requirements early and was qualified to be a clinical intern at a patient and wellness centered clinic for the remainder of my education. I am also a Certified Fitness Trainer. I owned a personal training business, and also created and directed the personal training program at Palmer College. I was very blessed to have the opportunity to work with clients one-on-one, manage other trainers, and develop school wide health challenges.
I believe that community involvement and philanthropy is the key to making a difference. During undergrad I was fortunate to serve as the Health and Wellness Programs Coordinator, where I orchestrated blood drives, Health Fairs and Community Speakers. While enrolled in the doctoral program, I was elected as the President of the Palmer Student Alumni Foundation. In that position I developed a program for future alumnus that focused on fundraisers and volunteering for organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Toys for Tots. Since opening our clinic in July 2012, we have been able to raise over $20,000 for the many great local organizations like the Boys & Girls Club, the Arlington Food Bank, Youth Dynamics, and Special Olympics.
My free time is spent with my wonderful wife Chelsea, and beautiful children, Penny and Beckett. We enjoy running, hiking, fishing and anything else that gets us outside during the year. We feel very fortunate to serve in this community, and look forward to many more years of helping patients regain and keep their health in balance.
